Host: Dr. Karn Vohra – University College London.
Dr Karn Vohra from University College London delivered the IGAC-iCACGP skills workshop on “Dos and don’t for academic CVs” to equip early career researchers with essential skills to craft a standout CV that gets them noticed as they apply for postdoc and faculty positions. Karn discussed the need for academic CVs and challenges associated with these. These were then followed by an engaging discussion of each element of an academic CV and how these should be curated for research versus teaching positions. Karn further described the top tips in structuring and formatting academic CVs and discussed common errors and issues. Towards the end of the workshop, participants had the opportunity to be the assessors to put the skills in use and review examples of (un)successful academic CV elements. You can watch the recording and slides used during the workshop below.
